We carried out the supply and installation of a large 112kW 3 Pipe Heat Recovery VRF / VRV Air Conditioning system to serve the upper floor offices. The building comprises a significant proportion of glazing around the perimeter of the building that contributes to excessive heat gains.
The windows face all directions and so the effect of overheating moves from one side of the building to the other during the course of the day. The installation of a 3 pipe VRF/ VRV heat recovery air conditioning system allows not only provide heating and cooling to all rooms simultaneously, but also allows diversity across the system. This results in a smaller capacity system and lower running costs than would otherwise be required to serve the space with other types of air conditioning system.

The 3 pipe VRF system uses a set of three refrigeration pipes to circulate the refrigerant gas between the outdoor condensing unit and the indoor evaporator units.
The refrigeration pipes are routed through the building and branched off to connect to refrigerant distribution boxes.
The purpose of refrigerant distribution boxes (BC Boxes) is to reduce energy usage by directing and altering the refrigerant flow between the indoor units. This allows when necessary the reclamation of heat energy between the indoor units.
